1 Million Barrels to Ankara
Al-Zaidi hands Turkey a million barrels a day. He orders his own minister to sign on camera. US and Saudi jets hit Iran's men inside Iraq the same night.
Tuesday, July 28. Iraq's prime minister walked into a room in Ankara and offered Recep Tayyip Erdogan 1 million barrels of oil a day, close to everything Turkey burns. Erdogan said yes on the spot and told his energy minister to start moving. Then, with the Turkish president sitting beside him, al-Zaidi turned to his own transport minister, who had just refused to sign the deal on the table, and ordered him to sign it while the cameras rolled.
That night, US and Saudi jets crossed into eastern Iraq and hit the men Iran arms there. Yesterday we watched the Washington half of this, the President keeping the Senate in town to force a crypto rulebook onto the floor. Today Baghdad moved, and it moved harder.
