Trump Forces the CLARITY Act
Trump kills the Senate recess. The crypto rulebook hits the floor. Iraq's rebuilt bank goes live July 30. A governor just walked out in Jakarta.
Tuesday, July 28. The President just did the thing a sitting president almost never does in an election summer. He told the United States Senate that nobody goes home. No August break, no flights back to the district, until the work in front of them is finished.
In Who Moves First we handed you 3 countdowns that between them are an early indication of when Iraq's dinar can move: Baghdad's unfinished cabinet, Washington's crypto rulebook, and New York's switch to tokenized money in October. Today Trump reached down and grabbed the middle one.
That rulebook is the CLARITY Act, and it is the law that tells the new financial system it is allowed to exist. Until it passes, the banks that will eventually settle a repriced dinar are building on ground that has no legal floor under it. So when the President cancels a vacation to keep that bill alive, he is not doing a favor for crypto traders. He is clearing the last domestic gate in the same sequence Baghdad is racing through from the other side.
Yesterday you watched Iraq get its bank ready. Today you watch the president fight to get the rulebook that bank is getting ready for. Same job, opposite ends of the world. Stay with it.
