Bessent Opens Ripple's Conference
Bessent told Wall Street the dollar is gaining a technology umbrella, Sinjar's fighters gave up their weapons, and Iraq's cash still comes by plane.
Wednesday, October 28. On Tuesday the man who runs the US Treasury opened Ripple's annual Swell conference in Manhattan, in front of the people who run Wall Street's plumbing. He was added to the program shortly before it opened, after Washington gave Ripple its own federally chartered bank on Monday. Scott Bessent told them where he thinks the dollar's strength now comes from: "We will keep our military umbrella, but I think more and more it's becoming a technology umbrella."
The same week in Iraq, the armed group that held Sinjar agreed to hand its weapons to the state and put its fighters under federal command. And the Central Bank said its reserves are back near $80 billion, with the cash still arriving by plane. Half a billion dollars a load.
Today: Bessent on Ripple's stage, Sinjar's weapons, the spy chief al-Zaidi removed, the Maysan standoff, the vault and the planes, a hack at America's election regulator, and the region.
