90 Days Without the Grid
Russia and Ukraine agree a ceasefire and November talks, Musk reportedly buys into CNN's owner, US bases plan 90 days off the grid, and Iraq wants more dollars.
Monday, October 26. Over the weekend the Pentagon's plan for its own bases came out in documents. Every major base in the continental United States is to keep running for at least 90 days without outside electricity, water, fuel or communications.
"We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense," said Sean Parnell, its chief spokesman.
And in Baghdad, the dollars that hold up the IQD still travel the oldest way there is. As paper, shipped in from New York. On Friday al-Zaidi said he wants far more of them, and named what has held them back. On Sunday Iraq's Central Bank said $1 billion more lands within a week, and the street dollar closed lower 2 days running.
Last week, too, Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire, brokered by the First Lady, with three-way peace talks set for November. And Elon Musk was reported to have bought into the company that owns CNN.
Today: the peace talks, Musk and CNN, the bases, the cash al-Zaidi asked for, the street, the budget, and Iran.
