IR-017 The Private Estate: Giving Back
Seventeen reports in. The scenario, the six countries, the estate almost built. Now the ring that faces outward. The fund versus the foundation, the lever that gives the asset and dodges the tax, the structure that lets you give a fortune and keep the income, and giving direct so the money lands.

That last report built four rings and left one of them empty on purpose. Personal, business, legacy, and giving. Three of them are about protecting what is yours. This report is about the fourth, and the fourth is different, because it is the only one that faces outward. It is the ring that decides what all of the other work was actually for.
I want to say plainly what this ring is, because most people never build it at all. They give from the main pile, when asked, under pressure, in the emotional weather of the moment. And a person known to have money gets asked constantly. The giving ring is the answer to that. A walled, funded, deliberate room in the estate, so that generosity becomes a decision you make once and administer calmly, rather than a decision you are cornered into a hundred times. Done right, it protects the core, deflects the requests, cuts the tax on everything else, and puts real money where you actually want it to go. Done wrong, it drains the very core the last four reports were built to protect.
One honest note before we start. How giving is taxed is shifting under our feet. The United States is the loudest example, and from 2026 the rules got tighter, not looser, for large donors. The direction of travel matters, and I will flag it where it lands. But we plan with what is current and legal today, in every country this audience lives in.
