Iran, Venezuela, Iraq, the US military, the cartel takedowns, the dismantling of the corruption networks, and the IQD - read separately, they are noise. Read against a monetary system being rebuilt and re-backed, they are one operation.

How to Talk to Your Bank About Iraqi Dinar: The First Conversation

IR-026 walks the first bank conversation for dinar holders: the private-client approach, source-of-funds questions, note authentication, and multi-bank strategy.

IR-026 covers the conversation most dinar holders have never rehearsed: the first meeting with a bank about a position in Iraqi dinar. Banks do not process people, they process files - and the report walks through how to land in the client file instead of the risk file: what you say, what the desk asks back, how the notes are authenticated, and how to hold accounts at several banks without raising flags.

The sentence that opens the private-client desk

The right desk is private-client or wealth management, not the retail counter. Entry is lower than assumed: Chase Private Client opens near $150,000 in combined balances, Wells Fargo Premier near $250,000, and JPMorgan now assigns a dedicated private-client banker from $750,000 across 53 branches. UK, Australian and Canadian banks run similar doors. The opening line is simple and true: you are anticipating a significant liquidity event and want to establish the relationship in advance. No currency named first, no number volunteered.

The questions the bank will ask

Every jurisdiction asks the same 2 things. Source of funds: dealer receipts plus the bank statements showing the payments that bought the notes. Source of wealth: the ordinary records of a working life. An exotic currency triggers enhanced due diligence, and that deeper review runs weeks, sometimes months - the strongest reason to open the relationship before the event, not during it.

How Iraqi dinar notes are authenticated

The current dinar series carries bank-grade security features checkable by hand in 4 moves: feel the raised intaglio ink, tilt for the purple-to-green thread and the colour-shift ink, backlight for the horse-head watermark, and check the fluorescent patch under a UV lamp. A branch teller cannot machine-verify dinar because branch machines only carry templates for the currencies they handle. The capability sits at the wholesale banknote tier, and it activates when a currency goes live.

Three banks, one story

Spreading across 2 or 3 institutions is ordinary planning - deposit insurance covers $250,000 per depositor per bank. But banks share information under a legal safe harbor, so the story must be identical at every desk. And never split deposits to stay under the $10,000 reporting line: that report files itself and is routine, while structuring around it is a federal crime carrying up to 5 years.

The full report includes the desk-by-desk thresholds in 4 countries, the documentation packet that answers questions before they are asked, the impostor scams that peak in event week, and the July agreement returning 7 Iraqi banks to international channels.
