Treasury Flags Iran's Money Men in Iraq
Treasury tags Iran's money men in Iraq the day after the vote, the count still running, and why a new Congress does not change Iraq's direction.
Thursday, November 5. On the morning America learned Congress is changing hands, the US Treasury went back to work on Baghdad.
On Wednesday it added a warning to the sanctions listings of Iraqis already blacklisted for moving Iran's money, and Iraqi press reports 2 Baghdad banks were tagged with it. Any bank, anywhere, that still does business with them now puts its own access to dollars on the line. The vote did not slow that by any account.
Today: the warning on Iraq's Iran money men, a count still running, what this changes for Iraq, the blame, Saturday's vote, Manama, the street and the barrel, and the rest of the week.
