Iraq's stock exchange went live on Abu Dhabi's cross-border trading network on Tuesday. 103 Iraqi companies, valued at $21.7 billion, now sit inside a network holding over $1 trillion in listed value and 11 million registered investors, and trades on it settle in local currencies. One of the Gulf's biggest markets has agreed that Iraqi shares settle in IQD, in the week the coalition left.
In Baghdad, a government source told the state news agency that buying and selling have slowed, and that deleting the zeros from the currency is still under discussion with no decision taken. The dollar closed Wednesday at 157,000 IQD per $100 in the capital. Kataib Hezbollah's leader ordered all armed groups to halt military operations and said it is better to start over on an agreement with the Prime Minister, while Muqtada al-Sadr dissolved the Promised Day Brigade.
