Iraqi Dinar Brief - July 24, 2026: Washington Draws the Lines

Friday, July 24. Washington spent the week drawing the financial map in the open, one country at a time, and every line it drew carries a date you can circle.

Iraq's prime minister signed a rail line to carry trade into Iran, and in the same week let a US-led group begin engineering a second pipeline to carry oil around it, the Kirkuk to Baniyas line out to the Mediterranean. Two directions, one government. Baghdad is turning itself into the crossroads the whole region has to run through.

The room almost nobody covered was in Manila. Secretary Rubio pulled Vietnam deeper into the American camp days before a September 21 index upgrade routes billions of dollars of fund money into Hanoi at a discount. Different country, the same hand drawing the same map.

Over all of it, Trump threatened the biggest strike of the war, the Houthis hit two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea, and Brent cleared $100. The more dangerous the water gets, the more the roads around it are worth.

The last time a chokepoint like this was held shut, at Suez in 1967, the oil did not stop. It followed whoever built the way around. Iraq is being built into the way around, and the dinar is the currency sitting on that ground, still priced from before any of this was signed.
